Does Celebrity Fitness Mean More?

Over at That’s Fit (a great blog that you should immediately add to your list if you care about your health), there’s a post that asks the question, “what fitness advantages do celebrities really have?” It’s based on a Forbes article that mentions several Podfitness trainers, including Kathy Kaehler and Jeanette Jenkins.
This is pertinent to you as a Podfitness member, since dozens of Hollywood trainers offer training here. The question is, if celebrities have all the pressure in the world to look good, and nearly-unlimited funds, will they get access to workouts or knowledge that working stiffs like us don’t?
The answer is a categorical “sometimes”. But rather than take my word for it, I’ll share words from Ashley Borden, who trains Christina Aguilera and Mandy Moore:
“There’s always an urban myth that other people are on some secret program or magic supplement that everyone else wants to do. It’s funny, celebrities are no different; they often think that there is some other celebrity that has the real secret.
People often think that celebrities don’t have to bust their ass, but I can tell you, they absolutely do. I always say, ‘Fat does not care if you’re a celebrity.’ At my gym, there are a lot of celebrities that come in and work out really hard — just as hard as everyone else. Celebrities have the exact same insecurities as you do. There is no magic secret. The secret is what’s already out there. It’s your own dedication to exercise and a level consciousness that allows you to separate your food from your feelings.
Back when I trained Christina Aguilera, she would approach training like it was just part of her job — she just made herself do it. When we first started, it wasn’t even something she enjoyed. But she knew she had to do it. So celebrity or not, it’s something you just have to do. Physical activity needs to be a part of your everyday life.”
Yes, celebrities pay top dollar to get the best trainers, but more importantly, there’s no secret formula, no magic device or pill, and no undiscovered training regime. Even celebrities get sucked into that kind of thinking, but the ones that succeed are the ones that give their health and fitness goals a top priority.
Podfitness isn’t revealing any secrets, we’re just connecting people with the highest-caliber trainers for the lowest possible cost, and helping people to stay motivated and on track.
