Michael Phelps eats to win?
Now we here at Podfitness aren’t sure if this is a valid story or not, but reports coming from the New York Post are saying that Michael Phelps eats 4,000 calories each time he sits down for a meal and over 12,000 calories a day!
If this is true, he must be doing a lot of swimming to keep it off! Here are the stats on what he supposedly eats per day:
- Breakfast consists of three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise. He follows that up with two cups of coffee, a five-egg omelet, a bowl of grits, three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar and three chocolate-chip pancakes.
- Lunch is a pound of enriched pasta and two large ham and cheese sandwiches slathered with mayo on white bread - capping off the meal by chugging about 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks.
- At dinner it’s a pound of pasta and an entire pizza, and another 1,000 calories of energy drinks.
Now our trainers here are saying that’s impossible and he would gain weight regardless of how much swimming he’s doing, but I found it interesting nonetheless.
On a similar note, GO USA SWIMMING! Phelps and company have been demolishing the competition. Just check out this video from the 4×100 meter team relay. Amazing! It really makes me want to spur our content team to get some swimming programs in place for those that have waterproof MP3 players.
